Fuel for those building a better world, inside and out.
Hello!
👋🏻 I'm Laurie, I run this newsletter, along with Hold the Light Collective.
Welcome to a new week! This issue is sharing a question that surfaced in my Freedom Transmissions book study cohort: what do we actually fear more — the Void or the Light? And what does our answer reveal about where we are right now?
Plus: whales with a message for humanity, a rare Blue Moon worth marking, and Lizzie Peters of High Oaks Blooming in our Light-Holder Spotlight.

What Do You Fear More — the Void or the Light?
Recently in a session of my Freedom Transmissions book study, we all gave thought to this question:
What do you fear more — the Void or the Light?
This sounds like a pretty simple black and white question, but digging into it deeper, maybe not so simple.
This question is a mirror to who we are at this point in time.
The void is also thought of as the unknown, or the in-between. It’s the space after something falls apart and before anything new has shown up to take its place. Generally those who fear the void have a fear of failure, judgment, abandonment, shame, losing control, or losing what you have.
On the other hand, the Light is fully being seen. It’s allowing others to see that version of you that is most alive, awake, and authentic. Those who fear the light wonder, what if people really see me, what if I become who I came here to be … and it’s not good enough, or it’s too much, or not right? There is a fear of rejection, and issues around self-worth, deservingness, and trust.
The book points out that extroverts tend to fear the void, and introverts tend to fear the light. One fears loss. The other fears gain. But the layer underneath is the same — both fears are really about what we'd have to let go of. The old story. The old identity. The version of ourselves we've gotten comfortable being.
Truly, it’s a fear of change and transformation … and what it might ask of us.
If we really take a good look at ourselves, many of us realize we are walking around with one foot in an old story and one foot reaching toward something new. And the fear isn't really about the void or the light. It's about the part of us that has to dissolve for either one to do its work.
So the question this week for all of you is:
Which do you fear more right now — the Void or the Light?
And whatever the answer is, it's telling you something about where you are. Which is always the beginning of the next thing.

Lizzie is one of my dear inner circle soul sisters — part of my spiritual moai, our circle of four women who I talk to every week since meeting on a Journey in Sedona back in 2023. Her spiritual and magical depth has continued to reveal new layers over the years. She is tuned in.
It's been such a joy to witness the birthing of her new business, High Oaks Blooming — it literally just launched!
A little about Lizzie: she's a Registered Nurse who brings a deeply intuitive, holistic approach to healing. Her path began in the early 1990s, guided by a strong inner knowing and a desire to help others reconnect with their innate healing potential. Training in Reiki was a natural progression, and since 2020 she's been offering calming, restorative energy sessions that support balance on every level.
She offers Reiki and other services, and a beautiful line of flower essences — there's even a quiz to find the one that's right for you. New to flower essences? She has a lovely primer to get you started.

Live with Kelsey Banfield on Substack — Tuesday, June 2
I'm going live on Substack to talk with Kelsey Banfield, a coach who helps women get clear on what they actually want and build the structure to move toward it. We're talking Tuesday, June 2 at 12:00 pm PST / 3:00 pm EST.
A few things we'll get into: why structure is actually the doorway to more freedom, the difference between daydreaming about the life you want and giving it real shape, and the quiet ways we vote against ourselves. We'll close with a simple exercise — one or two goals that could meaningfully change your life by September 1.
If you're subscribed to me on Substack, you'll get a notification when we go live (and the replay lands there too).

Keep holding the light. ✨
