Something's happening.
Warrior energy is moving in. Do you feel it?
This seems to be a topic that's resonating in a few circles I'm in.
I told them I've found myself both inspired and envious watching Emma Grede, author of Start With Yourself, all over Instagram. (I know that my envy is just a mirror showing me what I desire.) She's everywhere — on major podcasts (think: Oprah), on stages with packed-house shows across the U.S., speaking about her new book.
I'm witnessing something I want… and also wondering: how does one get to be so fearless?
I'm in the middle of her book right now. If you Google Start With Yourself, you'll see it described as "a no-BS career and personal growth guide… aimed at helping readers get out of their own way and unlock their full potential."
Grede is a baller. She has a point of view on work, parenting, money, trade-offs, and more — and not everyone loves it. She's okay with that. She's not here to please everyone. She's here to share her vision, and it may resonate with you or it may not. Either way, she's good.
She's not in the business of pleasing people.
I've found myself saying, like that line in When Harry Met Sally — I'll have what she's having.
I realize the boldness I see in women like Emma isn't something they were born with and I wasn't. It's something they've claimed.
The fearlessness, the visibility, the willingness to be disliked — those qualities live inside me too. They're just buried in what Jung called the shadow: the parts of ourselves we've tucked away because somewhere along the way we got the message they weren't safe to own.
Too much. Too ambitious. Too self-centered. Too loud.
But the shadow isn't where our bad qualities live. It's where our buried gifts live. As Jung said, those dark parts are carrying so much light. Our boldest, most innovative, most fully-expressed selves are waiting there — not to be conquered, but to be partnered with.
The warrior energy is here. The question is whether we're willing to meet it.
So here's what I'm doing about it.
On May 14, I'm teaming up with the brilliant Kristan Sargeant for a live workshop on exactly this — meeting the warrior energy that's moving in, befriending the shadow, and reclaiming the boldness that's been waiting inside you all along.
This isn't about becoming someone new. It's about coming home to the parts of yourself you tucked away — and partnering with them.
If something in you said yes while reading this, that's the warrior. She's here. Come meet her with us.
