This question came up in one of my Freedom Transmissions book studies this week: who are you when you strip away who you think you should be based on how you've been raised, conditioned, molded, and formed.
Long ago, the world handed us a role and we agreed to play it.
The Freedom Transmissions calls this the difference between the chaff-self (the ego/mind self) and the wheat-self (our soul and spirit). One is built on performance, validation, needing approval, comparison, and seeking proof that we're enough. The other already belongs and doesn't need to earn anything.
When we hand our worth to a person, a brand, a role — we don't just lose ourselves to it, we become owned by it. We're constantly chasing and comparing and in fear: it's the fear of either not getting what we want, or losing what we already have. Both keep us on high alert, managing everything, belonging to everything except our true divine selves.
“What you belong to also belongs to you.”
Here's what I keep remembering every time I read this book: freedom is never about doing whatever we want. It's about being what and who we already are — underneath the noise, before the conditioning, before we learned to outsource our worth to anyone or anything outside us.
Remember, we are 100% human and 100% divine. This part of us — this connection with infinite intelligence — is where our true, authentic self resides. In this space, letting ourselves BE who we are at the deepest level is the true measure of success.
So what do you belong to that feels like it's no longer in alignment with who you are now?

WORTH KNOWING
🎧 This episode on the Consciousness Cassettes (from The Telepathy Tapes world) has been the talk of my community! The Consciousness of Creativity: Are Ideas Alive and Do They Choose Us? You may be familiar with this phenomenon of creative ideas along with some of the stories shared in this episode by Elizabeth Gilbert (she talks of this in Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear) and Rick Rubin (he shares of this in The Creative Act: A Way of Being) but I highly recommend you listen. It’ll get you thinking about your creative ideas in a whole new way.
💥 The solar eclipse happened yesterday, but you can still harness the energy and also embrace what Leo season is asking of you. This is seed planting time and also reclaiming the light you dimmed. This is the freedom of being you. The Spirit Daughter podcast explains it all. To just hear about the energy of Leo season, forward to the 16:16 mark.
📘 Devotions: The Selected Poems of Mary Oliver. I’ve started reading a couple of poems every morning from this book. I did this once before during the pandemic until I read through the entire book. It changed me and how I entered the day ahead. There are so many opportunities to have your heart cracked open. I weep often and spontaneously, reading her words.
🌈 Seizing Joy Within the Suffering World by Dr. Jennifer Freed. My friend Lisa D. sent this to me. It’s Dr. Freed’s free workshop on how to connect with our joy, found on her Substack → so you can work through it any time. Even better when you do it with a friend or two!

📖 The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron. This book has been coming up a lot lately, in several different communities and circles. There’s a reason why it still has such an impact. If you’re feeling stuck creatively, might be worth a visit, or re-visit, to this book.
🎧 I Am That I Am — a Dr. Wayne Dyer meditation.
🔮 Balipura Aura Spray in Space Clearing. I always have one of these around, and I’m sending my daughter to college with one, too. It’s especially wonderful when you don’t want to (or can’t) burn anything in your space to clear the energy.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. You receive from the world what you give to the world.

An Evening with Carissa Schumacher
What's Shifting and What Comes Next
Something is shifting — an internal shift, a life shift, an era shift. If you've felt it too, you'll know exactly what I mean.
Join me and psychic medium and channel Carissa Schumacher on Tuesday, September 1 at 4:00 PM PT for a live spiritual salon on Zoom. We'll ground in The Freedom Transmissions — the book that's shaped so much of our work together — and turn toward what's next with The Alchemy Transmissions, Carissa's forthcoming channeled book. And then we will go with the flow, letting intuition guide us on what wants to be shared. Carissa works with the collective in real time, so no two gatherings are ever the same.
2–3 hours together. Replay included if you can't make it live.
